Make sure that your students are all clued-up when it comes to body piercing!
We have been delivering workshops to students in Sheffield schools since 2004 and have educated in excess of 30,000 students to date. We want to raise awareness about body piercing safety to as many young people as we can. If this is something that concerns you and you would like more information about our workshops, please contact us.
If you are a teacher, youth worker or other professional and work with and guide young people in secondary school, college, university or other educational establishment in the Yorkshire areas, including Barnsley, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield and have concerns about body piercing, we would be happy to come and talk to your students about this very popular and relevant issue. If you are outside of this area, please contact us as we may be able to offer an alternative for your school, college etc.
Dan Aid provides educational workshops on all aspects of body piercing safety, for students in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 (12 -19yrs) as part of the PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), Citizenship, Business & Enterprise and other areas (tutorial, assemblies, healthy days etc.) of the secondary school curriculum. We also talk to students studying at Sixth Form, FE and HE as well as Health & Social Care undergraduate students.
I was moved to read the story of Dan who tragically lost his life as a result of body piercing. This is a common “rite of passage” for many young people today and affects many of our students here at Westfield as I am sure it does in other parts of the country.
I really wanted to include a safety message in PHSE with respects to body piercing and was able to do so with the aid of the DAN AID teaching resource pack produced by Christina. All my PHSE teachers who have delivered this resource feel that it is excellent and we will definitely be using it again next year where possible. Christina, who organises the resource has been extremely informative and helpful – guiding us through the process and has even organised workshops for the students in our school. I am extremely grateful to Christina for help with this.

Christina presented a ‘Body Piercing’ safety workshop to 100 + Health and Social Care undergraduates at Sheffield Hallam University, a new and interesting audience, which was also exemplary and very well received.
Dan Aid is a great social enterprise because it is so necessary to help young people make informed choices. The resources work: they are tried and tested and ready to go! School students will really respond to them because of the direct honesty they share.
